TCXO / VCTCXO
Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators (TCXO) incorporate specialized circuitry to actively counteract the frequency drift caused by ambient temperature changes, offering significantly higher stability (e.g., ±0.5 ppm to ±5 ppm) compared to standard XOs. This makes them ideal for applications requiring precise frequency reference in varying thermal environments. Voltage Controlled Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators (VC-TCXO) add a voltage control pin, allowing the output frequency to be finely adjusted. This feature is crucial for phase-locked loops (PLL), frequency synchronization, and automatic frequency control (AFC) in demanding applications like GPS/GNSS receivers, cellular base stations, wireless networking, and high-end communication systems.
