SAW Filters
Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Filters leverage interdigital transducers (IDTs) on a piezoelectric substrate to convert electrical signals to mechanical waves and back, achieving filtering based on the transducer geometry. They offer excellent performance, small size, and cost-effectiveness for filtering tasks in RF and IF circuits, typically from tens of MHz up to several GHz. SAW filters provide low insertion loss, good selectivity, and high out-of-band rejection. They are ubiquitous in modern wireless communication systems, including mobile phones (bandpass filters, duplexers), WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS receivers, base stations, and cable TV systems.
